HISTORIC OF THE CITY
In the Middle Ages, La Ciotat appears as a modest hamlet dependent on Ceyreste. The monks held a full power on the territory.
Rapidly expanding economic, due to its sea traffic, the village of La Ciotat marked little by little its will of autonomy.
In 1429, grave quarrels concerning the property of lands burst between La Ciotat and Ceyreste. The delegates of both communities found a solution: the division of the territory of Ceyreste, split into two different and independent communities.
From then on, La Ciotat quickly developed its city building the Fort Béroard, its ramparts, its church and managed its own business.
